Rise and Shine: Behind the Scenes at Bye Bye Birdie's TV Debut on Good Morning America
Think you've got a busy day? The first ever revival of Broadway's nostalgic teen classic Bye Bye Birdie has been playing previews to Broadway audiences for almost a month now, grinding out eight shows a week in preparation for its October 15 opening night at the Henry Miller's Theatre. But the enterprising cast and crew took things to the next level on October 2, showing up at ABC's studios in midtown New York at 4am in the morning to get ready for their television debut on Good Morning America. Broadway.com exclusively went along for the morning voyage, following stars Nolan Gerard Funk, Bill Irwin, Dee Hoty, Allie Trimm, Matt Doyle and the whole Sweet Apple Ohio gang for a behind-the-scenes look at what goes in to those high-octane television performances. Getting up before the sun, performing to hundreds of thousands of TV viewers, taking a nap, then heading to Broadway for a Friday night show?
